Sony Dream Machine ICF-CD3iP stuck in AudioIn mode

Our Sony Dream Machine ICF-CD3iP clock, radio, CD player, iPod player has stopped working. A lot of the times the display fails to come on when the device is connected to mains. When it does come on, it displays the correct time and day and shows it is in Audio In mode. None of the buttons have any effect when pressed. HELP!
