Attempting to play 6tb HDD on Smart TV

Hello everyone,

I am trying to play media files from a Seagate 6tb Expansion HDD onto a Vizio brand Smart TV. The HDD is under its own wall power, however, from my readings it seems like most "Smart" TVs do not recognize a hard drive over 2tb due to the partitioning/formatting. The drive is formatted NTFS.

So now my option it seems is to utilize a media player as a "middle man" to get the HDD working through the tv. I'm really not sure where I should start with that so if anyone has come up with a solution to a similar problem and found something that works, I would appreciate the help! I know of a NVIDIA SHIELD, but not sure if that would truly work. Also, I'm not trying to break the bank so lets keep it under $200 (US) if possible.
