So it's something in your household wiring that's slowing down your network.
It could be either the alarm wiring, the extension or most likely, a combination of both.
I would suggest that you run a new Cat5e cable to upstairs and use a filtered master socket - which will reduce but not remove the effects of the extension cables. Run the modem / VDSL connection via a pair on the Cat5 to the VDSL output on the master socket and make sure the alarm and extension are on the filtered phone output. This will give you the best separation possible without getting a new alarm. IT all depends on whether you can easily run a new cable for the router.
You could of course site your modem next to the master socket, but that may not be practical. |
