Hi Everyone,

I use an ip desk phone and instead of a headset which I find uncomfortable, I would like to connect a microphone (like a desk mounted podcast mic on a mini tripod) to the phone and use it as my main speaker and earpiece in one. Is that possible?

I was also thinking many phone systems now, use a soft phone on the pc and a headset connected directly to the pc. I would also like to use the desk mic in this way too connected to the pc instead of a headset. Any ideas what will work?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Regards,
Brad

Does the phone not have a hands free function with a built in mic and speaker? The better ones use multiple mics and digital processing to improve the quality of the audio and reduce echo - which will be the biggest issue trying to use a separate mic and speaker. I am not aware of a specific "breakout" cable as such, but you could probably modify a headset cable to take a standalone mic and maybe some sort of powered speaker?
