Hi

Is it possible to use an HDMI over Ip extender unit to have my sky q box on one side of the room and a tv on the other?

If your referring to extending HDMI over something like cat6/7 cables the simple answer is yes.

Though you could run it over HDMI cables which typical can be run max length of 15mtrs (HDMI category 1 cables), 5Mtrs (HDMI category 2 cables)

If you don't want to use cables then you could use wireless hdmi extenders.

Take a look at the link below for various ways distributing Sky Q around the home

There are two technologies here, you have to be careful not to get them mixed up.

HDMI over Cat cable just uses Cat6/7 cable as HDMI cable. It behaves exactly the same as an HDMI cable does, just more expensive and allowing longer runs.

HDMI over IP is converting a HDMI signal to network traffic so it can run over a network. This needs lots of bandwidth so you're talking about using the same Cat6/7 cables but as they're set up as a standard ethernet link you can use the infrastructure for other things too.
