(I am not sure if this qualifies as "wearable" or not, if yes, Mods please feel free to move this thread)
I have been doing some research into wearable NFC or RFID tags, as I think it is something that seems totally foreign now, but will be very widespread in the future.
I see there is a company in the UK (BioTeq - Human Re-Engineering Human Microchips ) who have an implant kit where you can insert a NFC or RFID chip into the skin between your forefinger and thumb. I think that this would be super useful, and would pay for itself in time! (eg. it could counter forgetting your house keys somewhere and needing a locksmith!)
There are so many practical uses:
1. NFC contactless payments (sadly, not available yet in the UK)
2. Access control to doors / work etc
3. Medical reasons - this is a HUGE sector. Especially for people who struggle to make use of keys or phones. |
