Easy route - use a VHS/DVD recorder combo unit - Panasonic DMR-EZ49V Black DVD & VHS Recorder Combo with remote   | eBay
down side is they are hard to track down and expensive unless you already own one.

Cheap solution is a USB device such as an EasyCap USB adapter - https://www.amazon.co.uk/EasyCap-DC60-Capture-Adapter-Software-Black/dp/B00SKCI232
Down side is you need a working VCR & PC and learn the software, so can be time consuming

Expensive route is to get a company to do the conversion for you - Video to DVD | Convert Video to DVD or USB | ASDA photo

I suppose it depends on what equipment you already have.  Working VHS in good order?  DVD Recorder?

i have a working VHS player and a MAC with windows loaded too.

was doing a bit of searching through the roof space and found my old VHS collection. was fully ready to dump the lot but now i'm struggling with the idea there was just a couple of things i wanted to digitise really.

i've a load of copied tapes with all my fave documentaries and some films. sat and re watched some of them and now they've been dumped . now it's mainly the original films left, all my fave movies (Terminator, Matrix etc etc) will be hard but i'll probably have to let them go . i mean they lay in the roof space for over 10years haha
anyone else got rid of their VHSs or are they still lurking somewhere

All my VHS tapes are now history - you have trouble even giving them away now so they all went in the bin

Be aware that pre-recorded VHS tapes often had Macrovision copy protection so even with the right equipment there is a good chance you will not be able to copy them. Besides a DVD copy should be cheap enough to pick up for these old films, and will be much better quality.

i did separate out a pile that definitely had to go, took them to a charity shop and they refused them haha, they went in the bin

Sovos SVS01's another choice, Tape in 1 slot, Disc in the other, easy-peasy.

well i'm down to about 5 VHS now. i gave away a bunch of my beloved tapes (well i loved the films not the format ) and have a few on ebay for sale.
i guess i'm down to one () i would like to transfer to digital.
still got my JVC player too, that will go in the roof space soon enough!
i'll probably go for the cheapest method possible if i ever get round to it
