Yeah, from the main strip in Fira where people stand to watch the sunset keep following the path along the rows of restaurants/shops and you will see signs pointing towards Oia and how many km it is. Just keep walking in that direction following the path enjoying the sights/villages/churches etc along the way and every so often there will be more signs reassuring you that you're on the right track. Will no doubt see more people on the way who can confirm too, we past people on the way back to Fira from Oia while walking over mountains who reassured us the walk is well worth it for the sights when you get there, and they were right. It was stunning, there are signs to the local bus depot at Oia and busses well signed with Fira on the front so we hopped on one of them back for about 2 euro each as the wife didn't fancy walking back. We managed it with an 11 year old and despite a bit of whinging and slipping on some of the rocky mountain paths we made it. Take plenty of water and decent trainers, flip flops would be a nightmare. Half way there there was a little shop which had cheap drinks/cans of pop/iced coffee and snacks or there's plenty of other places to stop but as it's walking along the cliff edge with the views most if the way the cafés all charge a lot for drinks, but when you are ready for a break you don't care. |
