We want to go away over Christmas and the Mrs likes the look of Boston. I've never been so it's good with me however looking at flights and hotels it seems quite a bit cheaper then other places such as New York, San Fran, Vegas etc. Is it just a good deal or is there a reason it's coming up cheap? Will be 7 nights just before Christmas until just before New Years.

Thanks!

I'd love to go to Boston, it has some great history and a lot of interesting stuff there.

I can only assume it's cheaper because it isn't as popular as the places you mentioned.

Been twice and personally I prefer it over NY. If you are into the history, half a day following the Freedom Trail is worth while. Trains to Salem and Concorde etc are cheap and easy.

Until I retired 2 years ago, I worked for a company based just north of Boston; It's a great city for history and a walking city at that.
Cheaper because it's not regarded as a holiday/vacation resort as such; it's a financial and technological centre.
See, for example, Massachusetts Route 128 - Wikipedia

I think Boston is one of the nicest cities to visit in the USA.  Make sure that the deal you are looking at is for a reasonably central hotel and you can walk everywhere.  Freedom trail is great and if you do everything on it then could take a couple of days.

1 to all that, but beware of the weather.  It can be treacherous and bl**dy cold this time of year.  I doubt there'd be any opportunity for boat rides of any kind (but you never know!).

If you do go, make sure you eat at least one night at

Durgin-Park | Boston.  If you don't want the seafood (and you should!), then you must have the Prime Rib (Durgin Cut).
