A few days in Jersey

Flew from Doncaster airport which was the old RAF base at Finningley. It was a bonus to see the Vulcan bomber from the plane window. Just one hour later we were picking up our hire car.

We drove towards the coast and reached Corbiere light house.
                                                                               

Walked along the causway to stretch our legs.
                                                                               

                                                                               

Headed in the general direction of Saint Hellier on the coast road and stopped for a stroll on the beach. 14 degrees and dry.
                                                                                 

Lovely sand. Wondering what these are, an estate of razor shellfish?
                                                                               

I've seen cig ends on a beach, but a vape. Sign of the times.
                                                                               

A walk back along the prom, stopping for a welcome bowl of soup. Deserted, just how we like it

Chilled in the room while my wife went to the pool.

Short walk into town and a few beers in the Dog and Sausage. Great 70's duke box but we attracted a couple weirdos who came over. Made a run for it to the Cock and Bottle for dinner. Then some goodies from the co-op and back to watch The Apprentice. Rock n Roll

After a cooked breakfast we got some fresh air.

Tide is out.

Keeping to the coastal roads, we went anti-clockwise.

Fortifications every few hundred yards.
                                                                               

Stopped often.
                                                                               
                                                                               

Really calm sea.
                                                                               

Strolled to the end of the long breakwater.
                                                                               

Had a bit of lunch sat on a headland bench. France on the horizon.
                                                                               

More stops before heading overland back to the hotel.
                                                                               

                                                                               
                                                                               

Returned to find fruit and chocolates in our room. The hotel staff must have spotted the DOB on the check in registration. Nice touch.

Despite the hotel fire alarm going off in the early hours I got up early for a walk.

Noticed the tide. It has a big fall and goes down about a foot every 10 mins at peak.

After breakfast we had a walk into town around the shops and market.

Wife liked the well kept parks.
                                                                               

In the car and went clockwise today. Had a brew and a walk on the beach. 16 and sunny despite the rainy forecast.
                                                                               

This one is now a coastguard station.

Enough with the concrete. Went diagonally along some ridiculously tight and twisty roads back to thre hotel.

Rained yesterday evening so just had fish n chips and went to the pub.
Overcast but dry this morning. Walked around town to pass the time, then a walk along the beach.

In summary, lovely place for a few days, a week would be too long for us. This is an ideal time of year. I think traffic would be terrible at peak? Flight was about £70 and the room £100 per night.
