I have to say a bed in business/first isnt going to make much difference - the issue of jet lag is that you are landing at what your body tells you is bedtime but its actually wakeup time.

Our flight landed at 07:35 local time meaning 23:35 UK time which means they wake you up at 23:00 UK time to prepare for landing. Thats earlier than I'd normally go to sleep on a school night let alone at a weekend/on holiday etc. Now you can possibly make yourself go to sleep around 8/9pm and get 2-3hrs kip but thats not enough to avoid jet lag. I certainly can't get myself off to sleep at 4pm and sleep 7 hrs to wake up at 11pm all ready for the day ahead, first class bed or not.

^ I used to be able to, but can't any more - must be getting old.
OP - I usually fall asleep on take-off - a result of getting up so early to catch the first flight and having to wait for hours before boarding.  Trouble is, this is usually a regional flight taking me to a later international flight...
Assuming that you are going to central Tokyo, Japan will be such an assault on the senses you won't suffer jet-lag as such.  I predict coming home will cause mild depression, especially if you have to go back to work the day after you arrive back.
Jealous.

Yeah , staying in Shinjuku near the station , I reckon more like severe depression , iirc I have 2 days back after returning before going back to work and one of them is going to be running around like an idiot picking the dog up etc , I'm definitely using a launderette for the washing this time for what it costs , the amount of clothes our lass goes through it took ages to sort out last time after only a week away !!!
