Might be worth checking out a firm called Destinology

They specialise in long haul trips but they really come into their own sniffing out great deals - sounds like they have a lot of contacts for different resorts and do get amazing deals that you don't get at other places.

They are very good at Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, those sort of places. Have used them and we got an amazing over water villa in Maldives at an incredible resort that had only just opened (hence the deal) for the price of a normal room in lesser resorts we were looking at. They are on the internet but best bet is to actually give them a bell and see what they have on offer........

Thanks, I’ll look into that, although we’ve more or less decided to stick to medium haul for the time we’ve got available. Caribbean or Middle East most likely....

Thought about Kenya? 10 day break with a 2-3 day safari in between

Only briefly, before deciding that safari isn’t something we’re that interested in at this point.

I Have just come back from 3 weeks traveling round Thailand and you may want to look at the resorts around the Hua Hin area. Lots to choose from and the town has nightlife, Shopping mails, Night markets & lots of good restaurants if you get board with eating in the resorts. I stayed in the Hilton which has the main part of town behind it but there is lots of resorts spread up and down the coast line.

There is plenty of excursions you can do   Bangkok is excellent to do a few days in, either at the start or end of your stay as the airport you would fly to is local.

Highlight of my trip was phra nakhon cave that is about 1 hour south by car.

As stated by someone else on this thread that Thailand will be very hot at the time of year you are looking at. I don't like it too hot so November was the best month for me as it was 25 -34 degrees while I was there.

We went to the Maldives over 10 years ago and then had a honeymoon in Mauritius. I think the Maldives spoiled us as Mauritius paled in comparison. My big regret in life is not just going back the Maldives. The only thing with the Maldives is you won't be traveling very far for days out.

another vote on the maldives, we did Kuredu this year for our 40th's, did caymans for the honeymoon, was in hawaii while living in california and they are nothing in comparision, maldives blew us away.

Wish I could go to the Maldives (they do look amazing) but it's just a no go for a single traveler

I have friends who went to kuredu. They arrived there just after we came home from sun island. They liked it so much they went there on honeymoon and had a blessing. They invited us along with other friends and family, but as we were getting married that year too it was too much money. In hindsight we probably should have gone. We've looked at it  since but prices have up quite a bit compared to our visit. I have a big birthday next year but with young kids florida is on the radar before we get another go at the Maldives. Hopefully they will still be around by then.

^^^^
Costs seem reasonable.

£900 for a month in a hotel(s) seems very cheap.  £30 a night.  Didnt think that was even possible in the Maldives
