Like him or loathe him he has just picked up bronze in a phenomenally tough final. The standard there was incredible so to appear in the medals is some achievement!

Excellent acheivement for the young lad.  He remained steadfast under unbelievable pressure, and held his own with best divers on planet Earth.  Can't ask for more.

And his glowing, delighted reaction afterwards was a joy to watch (unlike sulking China- pfft).

Yes, it was a joy to watch. The Chinese guy was sulking as he probably knew when he gets back home that he is in for a beating.

Lol exactly what i thought, they are never happy when they get a medal unless its gold.  I actually feel sorry for because i fear the consequences.

Aye. It's the winning, not taking part, that counts.

From what I've read there is huge pressure in Chinese society to excel. Can't imagine how tough it is to be a 'so-so' chinese athlete.

Fantastic that Tom got a medal and could dedicate it to his dad.

There's been quite a few sports involving British athletes that have had me totally engrossed even though I'd never normally watch them.
