If so, which one?

Reports suggest that sports clubs up and down the country are being innundated with new members.

Long may it continue and I hope clubs get any support they need as part of this legacy thing.

Me?

I'm too old for any of the more active sports, but I was particularly fascinated with archery. That would be a real mental, psychological challenge for me I think.

It would do me good to be able to control my emotions enough to be good at it.

Thanks.

I was beginning to wonder if it was just me.

No idea what age you are obviously, but some of the BMXers were well into their 30s.

Seems to me though that, apart from physical ability, age is of no importance.

Do whatever floats your boat.

Sorry, I was joking! More in disbelief that all the bumming around I done in my early teenage years, and I didn't realise I was partaking in an Olympic sport. If only I had stuck at it.

In my 40s now, so my chance of making it are long gone.

Plus it seems that so many of them take bad tumbles quite often, don't fancy that.

As you can probably tell from my reply, I had a feeling you might be but couldn't be sure.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of response to this.

That's just the way it goes sometimes.

Well, I cycle around 80 miles a week, play badminton twice, table tennis and weightlift 4 times a week so been on the case anyway.

Bit old to make Team GB tho

I have been thinking about it. I was thinking of taking up mountain biking. Also want to start running. I need to do a marathon one day.

I ride and swim as often as possible, daily when I can.  There are loads of bikes out on the roads at the moment.  Much more than this time last year.  Both swimming pools I use have been a lot busier than normal since the Olympics started.  Hopefully someone in this influx keeps it up and ends up on a Podium somewhere.

We take the kids twice a week to the family sessions and I used to be able to leave them with SWMBO for 15 minutes and burn up some lengths, at the moment I've got no chance.  You can make it a few metres if you're lucky.  Both pools seem to be close to/at full capacity for every session.

I swam at International level in the 80's so my time's gone but if my son or daughter fancy aiming for it I'd be chuffed to bits to help them.  Won't push them though if they're not interested.

Personal goal to swim the channel before I'm 40 so probably need to start lake training in the next 5 minutes

Give it a crack mate, you could be on a podium in 4 years   Age is irrelevant, have a look at the ages of the Team GB Archers.

As I mentioned, I'm in my 40s which is probably a little too late to take up a new sport.

Having said that I intend to start cycling very soon, as I have been struggling with a few injuries over the last couple of years that are making my favourite pasttime of football more difficult. I am fighting them and getting treatment so hopefully I can get over them and get back to playing footie, as I do find it very enjoyable.

I would say that if I was in my 20s now, I might be inspired to look into other sports in the aftermath of the Games. Unfortunately, my 20s is a distant memory.
