I agree that it has to be Wiggo or Murray. Murray won't win it because loads of people don't like him due to him being Scottish but they both won something that had not been won by a Brit for donkeys years as well as Olympic gold medals and a silver in Murrays case as well.
I think that Mo will do well as he's a great personality and won a couple of Golds. Ennis is also popular and Chris Hoy should do well again due to his overall success as well as his 2012 success. Rory has also had a blinding year cumulating in that amazing Ryder cup success so he should fair well too. I'd go for the Ryder cup team for the team award personally, but at the same time how can you look past Team GB in either the Olympics or Paralympics.
My guess would be - Wiggo, Farrar, Murray
I hope Murray gets in the top 3 as whilst he's not the most popular he does deserve it for his grand slam and Olympic success.
I do love Jess Ennis though and whilst she maybe hasn't achieved quite as much as some of the others (seems silly saying that when she's won a gold in her only event), she is an outstanding sporting personality and I guess this award is as much about that as achievement. I would love her to get in the top 3 as well.
Such a tough choice, but my vote is definitely for Wiggo. An amazing achievement from a great bloke. His only negative is that he supports Wigan Warriors...boooo |
