Should Montgomerie be Ryder Cup captain again ?

In all honesty I dislike the man. I think he's abrasive, sulky and, when it comes to the Majors, a choker.
I didn't like the way he manouvred himself into the job last time either. Sandy Lyle had got the unofficial nod until Mongomerie started his lobbying campaign.

He will be remembered as a winner on 2010; But - we had home advantage and were expected to win conclusively.
In the end we stumbled across the line by the narrowest of margins.

I agree with McIlroy that McGinley should get his turn.

No I don't think CM shouldn't get the job again but no because he's unpopular in some fans eyes. (I'm not fussed about him either way as I've met him a few times and seen both the nice and not so nice sides of his personality)

And there is absolutely no chance of Sandy Lyle becoming the Captain, so who ever told you that is talking nonsense. Sadly he's not on the list never mind shortlist.

It's a shame Darren Clarke still wants to try and play in the team as it was his Captaincy until he said no.

I'm not convinced about McGinley, I'd rather have Miguel Jiménez

I was refering to 2010.

He was amongst the favourites and was actually supported by Montgomerie before he did his u-turn and pushed for the position himself.

Pretty well documented at the time and details easily found on t'internet.

I agree that Miguel Jiménez would be a good, and popular choice

Some of the players seem to favour McGinley but I do agree with some of the comments I've heard that he just isn't a well known and big enough character to go up against the USA. They will be gunning for us this time after their humiliation on their own soil.

Delighted to have our 1st Irish captain.....and nervous already for him!!!

I think he's got excellent pedigree to do the job, having played in 3, holed the winning putt in 1, and been vice captain twice.

I am also glad that McGinley got the Captaincy. Whenever he has been interviewed on TV he comes across as a nice chap. Good Luck to him.
