I suppose it depends on how you look at it, he was never greatly skilled, but I would say great in the exciting fights he gave us in his prime. You knew what you were getting with Ricky and I used to love watching him before it all fell apart.
Lets remember he beat Kostya Tszyu, could be argued Tszyu was past his best but nobody was saying that before the fight and it was a thriller.
I think of Hatton as a great, a great entertainer both in and out of the ring and sadly missed.
Wish him well and really hope he moves on better from this and focuses his thoughts and efforts on his training/promoting. Hopefully looking back at the tapes and seeing the response of his fans even after defeat he'll take some positives from that and realise just how loved he is by the public. Can't say that for many fighters coming off three crushing defeats. |
