Well that's us out of it and the inquests will now begin. The pundits were saying last night that we need to open up a window in the cricketing schedule to accommodate the IPL which will give our better players more experience.
I think that's a bit daft as whilst it's nice to win any and every competition it's only 20/20 after all which is just a bit of crash, bang, wallop fun and not real cricket and in a couple of weeks everyone will have forgotten.
I'm not sure how good a captain Stuart Broad is as I have concerns about anyone who puts a left arm spinner on to Chris Gayle when he's in full flow and I have equal concerns about selectors who take (and play) an inexperienced duo such as Johnny Bairstow and Jos Buttler yet leaves Matt Prior at home.
The star performers so far have been Australia and it's their Test Match / ODI players who have performed at 20/20 whilst ours have been left at home |
