Ha ha - none taken...

Good to see Sam & Gethin getting a start in the Reds game. Expect the Reds game to be a much tougher challenge than either of the first 2 games.

Some interesting comments in the Aussie media about the Force's selection and their lack of "respect" for the Lions by fielding very much a weakened side.

Withnthe Reds game out of the way, the whole squad should have had a start & Gatlamd should have a good idea of his preferred choices in most positions.

I think we can expect 70% of the side that starts against the Warratahs to be involved in the first test.

As an aside - I've never been a big fan of League, but yesterday I watched the first of the State Of Origin matches. Wow - what a spectacle. Absolutely massive media coverage. Very exciting, some huge hits going in and great handling and offloading. Really low penalty count too.

That's how little you know. The jury in Wales is still out. Yet he is still a better 10 than Farrell, kicks better out of hand.

Only one disagreement with your tight five. I'd give the start to Ian Evans alongside O'Connell and have AW Jones on the bench. Warburton instead of Croft and Faletau at 8 because he plays so well with Phillips and either Warburton of Tuperic. Roberts will partner BOD. Back three could be Cuthbert, Bowe and Halfpenny.

Even if Farrell get the start and Halfpenny at fullback I expect Leigh will be the kicker.

well you would being Welsh and one eyed. Why not pick a Welsh 23 whilst you are at it ? You know the team that failed in OZ last year Evans had a poor match .Me? i am, not Scottish but I believe Gray is by far the best option to partner O'Connell and as I said Farrel was selected Biggar wasnt by Wales very own coach.Personally i would have opted for Burns because he has more to his game.It will be either Warburton or Tipuric for open side with O'Brian on the bench with Croft at 6 because of his pace carrying ability and he happens to be the best lineout forward.I'll gop as far as saying he will probably be the only Englishman on the field because i think Gatland will go for Roberts , then again i am not one eyed(no Quins players)

good selection although equally one eyed in favour of Tigers players. Halfpenny will get the nod because of his goalkicking. What no BOD? you have to be kidding, the man is a legend and in the form of his life.
What Lydiate over Croft ?? What came over you, creeping Welshness?

What is all this "one-eyed" crap you keep spouting LGS? Petty nonsense based on the fact you can't stand that the Welsh players are currently the best in the northern hemisphere. You've got issues (of Women's Weekly most likely).

because there simply is one or two so called Lions fans who are clearly one eyed Wales fans.At the end  of the day its about the best 15 players who can beat Australia REGARDLESS of how well they played in the 6N.Wales have NOT got a good record against Australia which kind of says something

Ok but try not to be so presumptious. And I'm still not sure if you're calling all Welsh fans "one-eyed" or just a few. Hoping the latter, after all of course there are some people like this, as there are for England, Ireland and Scotland.  In my experience I can't recall a single Welsh fan that has seen this tour or any before it in recent history, as a Welsh team in a different colour jersey. Maybe I just ignore the rest. In fact all my rugby following mates have talked about the whole side as one, not a bunch of nations. Many have been commenting on how gutted they are for Healy and do nothing but praise any performing players, regardless of nationality.

The Welsh are in a rich vein of form at the moment, in fact have been for a few years so it's no surprise when we get excited about our players making up the majority of the squad. But that doesn't mean we want just Welsh players. We want the team to win with the right mix.

I trust Gatland to pick the best team at his disposal and for the games in hand, he's done it for Wales in the past and he wants nothing more than to win.

Hell's teeth LGS. You really do have a chip on your shoulder as big as Tasmania about the number of Welsh players in this squad. If the Lions win the series will you man up and eat humble pie. I guarantee that if the series is lost you'll lay the blame firmly at the foot of Wales. The squad is in place, the team for the first test is yet to be announced.

The only thing you seem to know about rugby union in the number of players in a team. Get over yourself.

LGS - that's Saturday's announced team...not the team I think for the tests.

Very good post....but this ^^ I just can't agree with

Results & Fixtures | Wales | Welsh Rugby Union | Official Website : Results & Fixtures Index

4 out of 9 wins this season, losses to Argentina, Samoa, New Zealand (don't hold that one against you btw!), Australia, Ireland (8th straight test defeat), then wins vs France, Italy, Scotland, England.

Hardly a "rich vein"....but yet I agree largely with the rest of the post
