I don't think there's a US open thread, but thought it was worth mentioning an Englishman's Victory, hasn't happened for a while, who'd have thought it would have been Rose. Well done fella

Amazing news. Just seen your post now and didn't know as not heard any news or been on any news websites.. I didn't watch it after 7pm or so last night as I didn't think Mickelson would be caught.

That's cheered me up no end. Well done Justin

Fantastic golf from Rose, the 2 shots to the 18th were as good as you will see EVER!

Props to him for a class and very respectful speech afterwards as well.

Well done.

The drive then 4 iron into 18 were something special and then nearly chipping in from the fringe was superb. Nice little 6" putt for par to win your first major. Well done Justin

Didn't chip in but he did use his 3 wood to chip out of the fringe rough and put it to 6" from the hole. Nice tap in for par.

That's a trick I've heard of on more than one occasion, but I've not seen anyone I've played with use it themselves. Makes perfect sense playing a heavy club out of the fluffy part of the fringe, but taking a wood out so close to the green makes you feel very self conscious, a great touch from Rose at the end.

Great news, he's always seemed like a really nice chap and often under-reported by the British press, from what I could see, probably because he chose to play mostly on the US tour.  With Rory McIlroy having seemingly had a bit of a meltdown after reaching the No. 1 spot, I think there's the potential for Rose to continue his slow-but-sure rise and overtake Rory as no. 2.

Let's hope Rose can go on and win a few more majors now.  It won't be easy but perhaps he'll get that extra little bit of confidence from this victory.

Anybody going to watch The Open this week? Mickelson just won the Scottish Open and Graeme McDowell won the French. Should be entertaining, all golf majors recently seem to have been gripping.
