Thought I would start a thread on this years Open. I am in front of the TV already and will be glued to this for the next 4 days. I have to say the Course looks fantastic. Lets hope we can have a British Winner. If we can't I would love to see Phil Mickelson win,he is such a gentleman and it was great to see him win the Scottish Open.

Given the conditions, i reckon it's an open field. When it's blustery and wet i always fancy a European/Brit.
I reckon that Jason Day may have a chance this year, always there or there abouts. Love to see Sergio be about too.

I'll tell you one thing, Rory Nike= failure. He just looks a shadow of the player he was.

Would love to see Sergio win. Then again I say that at the start of every major. We can be pretty sure he won't.

Respectfully disagree re: Rory and Nike. Surely the manufacturer who supply the worlds top 2 players can provide Rory with clubs he feels comfortable with. Especially by now. With the amount of options available and presumably the blueprint of his Titleist clubs to work from I would wager that this rut is more to do with either the mental side of the game or the fact that he seems to be a streaky player.

loved Ian Poulter's comment "18th needed a "windmill and a clown face". tbh I think the course for a major should be a firm but fair challenge, The Open is one the great sporting events in all of sport not just in Golf and all great sporting events should be a challenge.

Why does Tiger Woods look so miserable on the course, never seems to be enjoying himself.

I think Poulter should keep his mouth shut and play Golf like the rest of the Field. Lee Westwood had no complaints about the Course,he just got on and did the best he could in the conditions. Before play started everyone was saying that the Course was in fantastic condition. Sour grapes from some. Tiger was awesome and I think he is going to be the One to beat, and I saw him smile and have a joke with his Caddie. I still hope Phil Mickelson wins.

Oh, it's def mental as he admitted y'day. He must have it in his head that he prefers his Titleist clubs and ball. He has been using his old driver and Pro V's( as he feels there is more control) in practise.
The change in management will have something to do with that.
I hope he gets it sorted as you don't go from number 1 to zero that quickly( Luke Donald the exception )

Whole heartedly agree. As Mark O'Meara put it ' conditions are not unplayable, standing on a Par 3 with a driver in your hand as the wind and rain come at you, that's unplayable'
There were a number of players under par, including afternoon players. I get the feeling that certain players are used to USA type golf and can't handle the challenge.

Very interesting I did not know that. I'm sure him and his team know what he's doing but practicing with his Titleist equipment seems like a very foolish move.

Tiger looks to be poised in a good position here now. Would love a good old fashioned Woods Mickelson Sunday final pairing.

Just seen Thomas Bjorn's protracer from the first. Why everyone isn't just bumping it down there like that I don't know. So many going into the right hay with irons.

Westwood goes into the final round tomorrow with a two shot lead over Woods and Mahan. Scott a shot further back, hopefully he wins. Though would be very happy for Westwood if he claimed his first major.

This is how last day Major golf should be! Anyone of a Dozen players could lift the claret jug.
Given that the best scores so far are around 3 under, Westwood should fancy himself. If he plays percentage golf and attacks the 2-3 holes in which a score can be made, then he may lose the Monty pt2 tag.

If Westy doesn't bring it home, I wouldn't mind seeing Adam Scott win it. After last years collapse, would be a fairy tale win for the man from Oz!
