Ping Golf clubs

Two years ago I decided my decrepited irons needed retiring and headed for American Golf to get a new set. After much discussion and testing on their simulator I was advised to get a set of Ping i15. All I can say is what a crock. I have never hit buffer since. I have developed a hook when I never ever could. I am at my wits end as I am starting to look for excuses not to play. Do I cut my losses and change to what. Do I tell the wife I am off for a quick 18 and just sit in the bar.

Yours

Presumably you have had some lessons from a club or the American Golf pro?

Trade them in for Titleist AP2's.

I went for a lesson prior to parting with my beloved Ben Sayer M2I. He told me there was nothing wrong with my swing, I just needed to  line up properly. But just maybe I should go back for another lesson.

Just had a look on AG and they have G25 for £529 but they also have G15 for £349. I could see if they would give me £149 for my i15 and give the G15 a go.

I would certainly look at your swing before splashing your cash on new irons. Chances are you will still have the hook.

It is the swing that causes hooks, not the club.

Do you hook your driver, 3 wood or hybrid?
If not, the irons could be either to upright or to long for you. What colour code are they?

I can hook them all where as with my previous bag I never ever did. I had a ping Rapture driver and I could hit it great but 75% were sliced. I now have an i15 driver and when I hit it I smile but that does not happen very often as I tend to go hook, hook, slice oh my god I give up. Then again back to the i15 irons they are very much the same, hook, hook, slice.

I have a comp tomorrow but I don't expect anything where as before I would have been excited and looking forward to a chance to win.

If a slice is also appearing regularly then it sounds like a pull hook rather than hook. Both come from the same 'out to in' swing path with the two different results depending on whether or not the club head is open or closed.

I'm just surmising from what you've wrote but swing path seems the culprit. Maybe 'google' some 'in to out' drills and hit the range.
