Best Printer for Home, for Photos

Not looking for A3.

I usually stick with Epson as they do a decent job but its been a couple of years and for consistent good qulaity photos or artwrk with solid areas can anyone suggest what the latest and greatest is please ?

Rather not spend £400-500 but there are quite  a few around 150-250 mark but suggestions welcoe

Canon pixma pro 100s is a really nice printer but maybe over budget at £359? Another thing to consider is that it’s huge.

Yes that would be my choice if I needed A3........ Bit of a (capable ) monster for A4 though.....

Its a bit pricey at the moment for what I want. Seen some example prints off one though... they are brilliant

I've decided I need the scan facility and defo not A3. Being an Epson user for yonks I've also decided to switch to the Canon and from that survey iceman kindly linked which I've seen already so a useful reminder I'm going to check out the TS9150. Gets good reviews for photo quality and has a scanner.

Problem used to be that all in ones were pants at photos but they've come on a long, long way. My Epson xp-750 is really good but is beginning to show some issues with large solid colours.

Cost of inks is always an issue. I have used compatible cartridges and have never really had any issues. But I'm getting light banding on Lennons jacket of this drawing my artist daughter did for me on an iPad with pencil and its  1meg JPEG so resolution should be OK. Not touchup or image size change. Its better if I print from mem card direct on printer rather than through my iMac but the light banding/lines are everywhere but more noticable on the dark solid colours
