That calculation at f1.8?

Unless I've misunderstood the calc is based on the focal length more than the aperture (I would assume this is because the more "zoom" on the lens, the higher probability of star ttrails being noticable).

So 500 / (50*1.6) = 6.25

I shall just have to have a play with a few lenses and hope I can get something worth while, failing that it'll just be something fun to try with my daughter.
