Step challenge apps

Morning all.
I'm getting the wife an Apple Watch and I know one of the things she will have an issue with is her daily step challenge with her friends and their Fitbits.

I know some of her friends will be moving to apple watches at the same time, so wondered if anyone can recommend a suitable app they can use to continue to have their daily battle.

Something which runs on the watch and then syncs to phone would be good so that they can avoid having to have their phone on them at all times would be good.

I get the impression that a lot of the apps show the count on the watch but base the steps on what the phone counts.

From the Activity app on the iPhone, you can post your days activity to Facebook, Twitter, email, Messaging etc. I didn't know this myself until I looked! Edit: I just checked and it only send an image of your activity rings, no other data.

There are lots of third party apps that do this too no doubt.
