there is a GH2 for sale here on the forums and I’m wondering if it’ll be good for my daughter in her course that she is taking next year

What exactly is the course and do they have any recommendations for cameras for the course ?

Assuming the course is a GCSE in photography I would see if you can find out what equipment the course uses.  It's probable though not certain that they'll be using entry level Canon or Nikon DSLRs.
While a mirrorless Panasonic is capable of making brilliant images she may be well served by using a camera that the tutor is familiar with.
She may also be able to borrow lenses and flashes etc. that are compatible to extend the range of shots she can take.

I would get advice from the tutor/course. As AMc says it may be best to have a more 'common' camera that tutors and fellow students are familiar with.

Also, whilst I'm not one that believes you need the latest and greatest tech the GH2 is quite old and at the time of release mirrorless cameras (which the GH2 is) were quite a way behind DSLRs in some key areas. Mirrorless have pretty much caught up now though.
