I'm considering a basic smartwatch. I bought this:

Huawei Band Smartwatch - Black

But it was a hassle to tell the time ie press the screen 3 or 4 times or hope that it comes on after moving the wrist. Also i couldn't read the time in the sunshine (occasional issue in UK). So it went back.

Do any basic ones permanently show the time like a digital watch? In terms of smart features i'm only after call and text alerts (fitness stuff not needed).

Budget - under £100.

Thanks

Try a Pebble. Always on screen and its e-ink so easy to read in daylight. You can easily find them within your budget on ebay / gumtree etc

Thanks mate. I've ordered a pebble time steel. Let's see how it works!

Cool - hope you like it. I have one, it's simple but the always on screen and excellent battery life is hard to beat. The steel look quite nice to! Shame the company ceased when bought out fitbit

Just taken delivery and initial impression very positive. The display works well and there's a squillion watch faces to choose from. Might change the strap from grey to black, but that's easily done.

I also like the flexibility of what notifications to show - as i deliberately didn't want email notifications but wanted text and whatsapp.

great !

I hope you knew that Pebble had 'ceased operations' before you bought one.

Just update the app to the latest version, as its been reworked so that the watch will continue to work once the servers are finally shut down.

I knew pebble had been bought but hadn't considered the risk that the watch would not work!

I'm very happy with it, so as long as it continues to do the stuff it does today, then i'm happy. Not that bothered about extra apps.

Thanks
