Hi I’ve recorded some video on this camera in AVCHD PRO mode, 1080/50p,   but trying to change to AVCHD, because after I’ve copied footage to my Blu Ray Recorder a message stated I cannot copy it to DVD, which is what I’d like to do  or to Blu Ray Disc, but I can’t see anything in the handbook to amend to enable a setting that will do this ?

Thankyou

Hi Mike
The Pro is for progressive scan i.e. 50p, you need interlacem i..e. 50i.
Page 107 in the handbook shows the setting for 1920 x 1080 , 50p and 50i.

The 720 can only handle data rates upto 18Mb/s, with 50p the camera data rate is 28Mb/s, but 50i reduces this to 17Mb/s.

If you need to interlace, i.e. convert 50p to 50i, your existing recordings then VLC should be able to do this on a PC

I used to convert my 1080 50p recordings to 720p in order to fit onto Blu Ray discs.
Nowadays I don't bother and just watch the original files via HDD/NAS drives so I can see them at the original quality. Also saves all the faff of authoring which I enjoyed doing early on but the novelty soon wore off.
Whatever you do NEVER go back to recording in 1080 50i !
