I'd always HAD satisfactory service from Know-how.
So, ordered tablet, delivered Thursday afternoon before Christmas, found it had been opened and ruined with a line down the screen, notified them right away to get me a working model before Christmas, had no reply to that or any emails, they took payment of £460 right away, collected this Tuesday, no reply to further emails, have no idea if and when replacement will be sent.

And if paid by credit card – aways a good idea – contact the card company and recover the money.

What do you mean it was 'taken back'? Did a courier collect it or did you take it back to a store? There must be a paper trail?

Sadly, that is a great way reducing your rights as a consumer.

Why?

Because PayPal removes some of your rights as a consumer.

If you buy something that costs >£100 using a credit card, but not a debit card, the card supplier becomes jointly liable for whatever you bought.

Section 75 refunds: free protection over £100 - MSE

Here's the dirt from MoneySavingExpert.com on PayPal:

Warning! Don’t use paypal to pay on a credit card: You’re losing valuable section 75 rights - MSE

I think the same warning applies to Amazon and other pretenders to credit card status.

You don't lose all rights with PayPal, but you may find it harder to fight your corner.

In the case of someone like Curry's, you aren't dealing with a financially dodgy outfit, but you can't wave the credit card rules under their nose if you use PayPal.

Thank you but I used a debit card with PayPal.
Currys are not financially dodgy but their Knowhow is dodgy - very - today is the 16th since delivery of rubbish and fourth since collection of the rubbish and still absolutely nothing from them.
