Tablet: video calls - landscape or portrait?

I have a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet, although I think this is a general question for other tablets too.

I am used to using Skype on my laptop in landscape mode. However, my tablet has the camera at the top of the tablet where the tablet is held in portrait mode. This produces a narrow picture via Skype (not surprisingly). I want to talk to people in landscape mode but have no idea how to achieve this because of the position of the camera. Is there some way of doing this? Whenever one sees Skype or other video messengers, like on TV,  they show a landscape mode picture, why can't I do it?

Found this hope it may help not galaxy but andriod so skype settings must be same  View Skype vertically on Android tab

That link is interesting and would solve it if my skype settings menu included "Appearance" but it isn't there. I've been right through the settings and no options there. My tablet runs nougat so maybe why it's not there if they changed it for nougat. But thanks for the tip.

I've found a possible answer in Skype Help and that is to start the call holding tablet in portrait mode rather than landscape. I will try this.
