Large screen tablet for movies

Afternoon

Looking for a large screen tablet for mainly side loading movies on to watch offline while flying or in a hotel room instead of my iphone xs max.
From what ive read Apple would be a big no no due to there lock down system but android would be good.
Not clued up on tablets as never owned one so looking for advice.
Nothing mega expensive but a decent large screen, battery and memory unless movies can be stored on sd cards.

Seen that the Samsung Tab A 10.1 32gb has come down in price at Currys is it any good or is they better out there

I had a similar dilemma myself recently.  The Samsung tablets are a great option - I ended buying a Tab A 10.5 for my wife.
Avoid the Tab A 10.1, it's a couple of years old now and no longer receives the latest android version.  The 10.5 comes with Android 8.1 installed and should get the next 2 versions at some point.

Samsung Tab A 10.1 2017 is getting Android 9 Pie in Oct 2019 although I would get the newer Tab A 10.5 2018 as it's much improved over the 10.1 2016/2017
