IPad mini help please

Hi all have just bought an iPad mini 1 to wall mount a remote for house apps

sadly most do not work as the iOS is out of date

what IPad mini would I need to run these apps please

They all have an App in the istore and will run on an iPhone and iPad.

He has an iPad mini 1. The last iOS release for this was 9.3.6.

Tuyasmart should work on his iPad mini as this only requires iOS 9.0, but all others require iOS 10 or 11.

An iPad mini 2 should be able to run the apps as it can run iOS 12.4.3, but can’t be updated to iOS13 so there won’t be any future updates.

Might be worth getting the iPad mini 4 or 5 (current model) as these have been updated to iOS 13 so will have at least a few more years of updates.

Big price difference in the 2, 4 and 5 though, depending on configuration. iOS 12 being introduced in late 2018 has a few more years to run yet and runs on ipad mini 2( 2013 versions), abeit updates now ended on the product.

My concern would be if these/future apps OP wants to use dropped iOS 12 support & the minimum was iOS 13. The mini 4/5 will prob support iOS 14 & maybe even iOS 15, so would be quite a while until they would go out if support.

But of course price difference between mini 2 & mini 4/5 is large. OP may have to decide whether to get the much cheaper mini 2 now, & could upgrade to 4/5 (if necessary) down the line when they’ll have dropped in price too
