Just a quick heads-up, in case anyone is interested. In the Amazon Prime deals, the Insta360 EVO is currently on sale. It takes 360 degree footage, or, more excitingly, it will shoot 180 degree, 3D footage, which can be streamed into VR headsets. Currently, it works with Samsung Gear, Oculus Go, with Quest in the pipeline. Although there is a side-load workaround for Quest. It may work with other headsets too.
They are selling pretty fast. There was 13 left when I ordered mine. Now there are just two, so get in quick if it floats your boat.
The camera was £335 in the Prime sale. Think it should have been about £400. Just struggling now to get any footage onto the Quest. Looked at some tutorials for side-loading, and it seems easier to get a man into space . Thought the Gear VR would come up trumps, but the camera app isn’t even listed in the Oculus Store. I think it’s not showing because I have an older, Samsung S6.
I tried Skybox, which is supposed to sync up to my Mac, and display any valid files for direct transfer. It doesn’t show a single file . So I thought I’d just hook the Quest up to the Mac with a cable and treat it as a storage device. Lo and behold, the soddin’ cable is a usb-c, which doesn’t work with the Mac, so now I have an adapter on order. My heart always sinks whenever a manufacture’s blurb includes the word “simply”. From that moment on, you just know that the whole process is gonna be a sh!t-fest
