Oculus go

So it's the festive time, one of my kids wants a quest , now he's 10 ( I know age advice .. not needed ) and I think for the money he will never really use it.
He's a gamer , but 95% fortnite.

Do you think an oculus Go still has a place ? Will he enjoy? Watching vids and simple games will be fun. And 200 quid is a lot better than quest prices

I know he wants a quest..  I dont think it's worth it.
And not really wanting the non inclusive element of the gaming .  A go seemed a half way house to keep him happy

Well you asked for thoughts, and they are my thoughts.

Gaming on the Go looks extremely limited and it doesn't have tracked hand controllers. It's half the price of the Quest and a fraction of the fun.

Only you can decide if your son will like it.

The Go is a great piece of kit for simple gaming and watching videos etc.

But the Quest with 6dof is leagues apart with respect to gaming, the difference and freedom that adds is phenomenal, and if that’s what he wants he’ll be disappointed to get a Go.

If you’ve got the budget then Quest, if not probably better to get him to save up.  

As to whether he’ll use it a lot long term, who knows, but you may find you also enjoy it yourself or the rest of the family. It’s great fun.
