Hi guys, wondering if you can help me. I am an absolute beginner with pfsense, this is my first installation.

I am receiving my internet connection from the ISP over PPPoE. There are two VLANs... 608 for internt, 42 for IPTV.

I am replacing the provider's router because it's terrible, and am replacing it with a Qotom i5, 4gb, 32gb SSD box.

I have managed to set up pfsense so that I can get internet access on the LAN, but I cannot for the life of me get IPTV to work. I am not confident that I've assigned the VLAN interfaces the right way. I have some basic open rules in there. Would you mind taking a quick look and tell me if there's any glaring errors or better ways of doing things. (I turned on IGMP proxy as read somewhere that it was needed for iPTV but again i don't know what i'm doing. I can get IP addresses from the ISP provider on both the pfsense box and the iptv box, so something somewhere is making a connection, but again, i'm not comfortable with what I've done so far.

thx

p.s. am not blocking bogons or private addresses either

Here's my link on reddit with all the necessary pictures...

Need some information from the ISP about how they are delivering the traffic:

Is the traffic marked with the appropriate VLAN tags (ideally 802.1Q VLAN tags - there are alternates possible?)

Is traffic of both VLAN's tagged or is it a "hybrid" link whereby one VLAN's trafffic is untagged (e.g. the Internet VLAN) and the other VLAN's traffic is tagged (e.g. the IPTV, though it could be the other way around?)

Does the PPPoE negotiation have to take place over any particular VLAN?

I've never used pfSense, so  can only give you guidance in the general sense, doubtless others here know it. The questions above will assist the diagnosis.

Also, what is the connectivity between the pfSense box and the downstream (LAN) devices - are they physically separated (each has own switches, cabling, etc) or are you proposing to use VLAN internally also.

Does your IPTV require VLAN tagged traffic, or is it expecting it untagged?

It might also help if you tell us wh is the ISP and what is the make/model of their supplied router - someone here might be familiar with them and how they work.

It seems the OP is NOT in the UK, as the UK's only cable operator (Virgin) doesn't allow you to completely bypass the Virgin modem/router and use your own kit instead.

OP, if indeed you are located outside the UK, it might be better asking on a local forum how others on the same ISP have managed to get their IPTV working on 3rd party equipment (assuming its possible). You may also want to post on smallnetbuilder.com forums as that has a worldwide audience.

Edit: It seems the OP is from Moscow, Russia
