I have dual router setup with one of them being a dedocated vpn router andf the other non vpn.
I have powerline plug set up in another room setup with the non vpn router.
How do i set up another powerline plug on the vpn router with out it interfrearing with the other power line plug connected to the non vpn router?
Give the second powerline network (from second VPN router) a different network name?
Btw in case it helps, on some Asus routers you are allowed to run both VPN & non-VPN traffic simultaneously from the same router, saves you having a second router.
Im not sure how to give the second power line network a difrent name?
I assune the powerlines connected to the vpn router have to be paired difrently from the other powerlines connected to the non vpn router?
You can pair powerline routers using the Encryption button. Setup and encrypt the first network by pressing the button on the first powerline and then all the others within I think 1 minute.
Switch on the 2nd set of powerlines and repeat the process. You will then have 2 separate networks.
Bear in mind that these two powerline pairing will be competing for the the same available bandwidth (capacity or "speed" if you like) - you won't be magicking up any extra capacity! It's much like VLAN's, or multiple Wi-Fi cells sharing the same radio channel. The traffic sets are kept logically separate, but the they have to "play nice together" when it comes to using the transmissions medium (the mains circuit.)
The reason for choosing the powerine is that i cannot have a ethernet cable running updstairs with out the hassle of lifting floors and drilling holes etc and my understanduing is that powerline is faster then wifi but not as much as ethernet connected to router.
I did a speed test - power line AV1300 achived APPROX 80-120/Mb/s and direct connection to router i achived 170 - 200 mb/s
