'Via' as opposed to 'from' Amazon. If you bought it from the marketplace you should return it.

You don't have a warranty with Toshiba.

T-S/N = Toshiba serial #.

Edit:

I see the example image from Toshiba contains both T-S/N and S/N  - have only ever used the S/N to determine warranty status.

My RMA was May 2016 with a pre-paid return to Germany.

Following this it's now stating warranty claims for internal HDDs are via the distributor.

Seagate/Western Digital RMA/Registration much easier.
