LTE Modem + Cell Mast Question

Hi all,

I don't suppose anyone would know of a way of telling in what direction a connected mast is when using a 3/4G router?

Based on another post of mine I purchased one of these:

UK Broadband 4G Router | Unlocked Cat 4 Wireless Mobile LTE Router

Along with an outdoor Mimo antenna.

I have tried sims form Voda, EE, Three and O2 and while I can get a fairly good LTE signal with all of them, it would be useful to know exactly where the mast that is servicing the sim is located to allow me to better place the antenna.

There is but I've spotted a few masts that look like they serve the same networks all within the same radius so not sure which mast I'm likely to be connected to.

There is a free app on the app store for Iphone called "open signal' which will do what you are trying to do (not sure if there is an android version)

The manual isn't helpful - can't see any mention of a CLI.

Which modem is it using? Network Settings > WAN_4g

It's probably running GNU/Linux based on the modem being at /dev/ttyUSBX.

No next to nothing about 4G internals but ......... given the 4G status bar on the top menu it's got monitoring software installed.  It mentions the QMI protocol, so there is something to work with ......

Run a port scan on the device and see if anything other than 80 is open on the LAN side?

i use an app on my android called "Network Signal info Pro" it has a cell location tab which shows a map of the mast and which one you are connected to including more detailed info signal etc
