2 Asus DSL-AC68U 1 - for router and 1 - for AP

have 2 DSL-AC68Us.
Using 1 for broadband access want to use the other as an AP somewhere else in house to improve wifi.
How'd I be best setting it up ?

You would simply set up the second in 'Access Point' mode in the router settings.

Btw i would re-consider using the first in DSL mode. The modem on the DSL -AC68U uses  a Mediatek chipset - which is a very unstable chipset - and has been well known to cause severe banding issues on FTTC lines. Even if you don't currently have any issues, there's a high risk this could change. I'm not recommending you bin the router(s), simply use another modem (such as TP Link W9970) and use the DSL-AC68U in Router or Access Point mode.

Also, have read of the "Using Two Routers Together" FAQ pinned in this forum. It's quite long now and there's no need to read it all - the first few posts should suffice. If your routers offer a dedicated "AP mode" (which is becoming increasingly common in better kit these days) then it's probably doing all the "hard" work for you and all you've really go to worry about is how you cable them together and set up the Wi-Fi channel plan.

Hmmm currently only have ADSL but ~12 months most likely FTTP.
Would it still be an issue ?

Oh sorry, I wrongly assumed you were using it on a FTTC (VDSL2) line. For adsl you should be ok as the DLM on adsl lines is less aggressive than vdsl2 lines. Yes you can still use the DSL-AC68U on a FTTP line by putting in 'router' mode, ie switching off the DSL component. On a FTTP line you use a ONT (think of it as a fibre 'modem') so if its Openreach FTTP you'll be getting, then you will get a separate ONT installed and you simply hook up the router to the ONT and set up a PPPoE connection on it. What’s your router btw ?

Its a Linksys EA9500 (v2). Its a tri-band wifi router which is very useful as we can sometimes get up 50 odd wifi clients connected simultaneously when friends & family are around. Gives great wifi coverage in our 4 bedroom home though having wafer thin walls helps. We get pretty much > 250 Mbps on every AC wifi client on our 330/30 Line.
