Synology DX517 expansion

I've got the DX517 expansion unit. It is brilliant, just does what it says on the tin.

Thanks still haven't decided if I get the expansion unit or the 12 bay. The price difference is astronomical. Some mornings I am like I will get the expansion but then others I am like we'll how much actual space will that give me?

Are there any performance issues with the bay? Do you use it to run Plex?

Yes I use Plex and have video files amongst others installed on it. No problem at all.

A strategy I applied as well is to upgrade the capacity of the individual disks. One by one and then let Synology expand it, and once you’ve got the critical amount of pairs a lot of space becomes available.
