I'm no a NAS expert, so cannot give you any specific help, but others here are and too pre-empt their interventions, it would be useful if you cite the exact make/model of your NAS. It might also help them if you know which version of Plex it has installed - if Plex has such things as software version numbers.

In the mean time, if you create a bog standard CIFS/SMB share on your NAS, drop a couple of sample media in them, can your shield play them OK...? If so it would give some indication of whether the problem is with PMS on the NAS, the shields, and/or the media itself.

so, have you installed plex server (not client) on the shield or the nas?

where is the plex client installed? shield I assume

are you using an av receiver? or are you connecting the shield hdmi direct to an hdmi of the tv?

have you set passthrough? in the audio settings.

on the shield settings, advanced, is where passthrough is set. try all

I have my plex server & client on my shield. My DS414 is just used as storage the movies folders are shared, using nfs. note I do have a receiver
