Crikey, Nvidia support aren't very good are they
I also have been using HTPC's since 2005 and have been bitstreaming via HDMI since not long after that.
Nvidia and AMD both work fine, as do Intel. It also works fine in a variety of players, including MPC-HC (via LAV), Kodi, Media Portal, Plex Media Player. I get all audio formats this way including Atmos and DTS:X, all bitstreamed to my AVR. I do this in three rooms, with three different AVR's with an Nvidia card, an AMD card and an Intel NUC.
Tips on setting it up..
In windows set the sound settings to stereo. This means that any stereo audio will hit the amp as stereo, and they you can use the amp to upmix it.
In the player, choose WASAPI if you can (eg Kodi), then choose bitstream / passthrough and tick all the audio formats that your amp supports.
Reboot everything.
Should work! |
