I feel for you I really do.
Nothing worse than stopping a person enjoying their new hardware.
Can you just not answer the door?

I'll be here tomorrow, hope it works out or we'll have to find another solution.

I agree, sorry for missing that. OP's mobo is from 2011 though.
Worth a try if he doesn't have it that is.

Check your bios with CPU-Z and see if you have the last bios installed.
Should be Version 4.3

CPU-Z here: CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID
When you run it go to the Mainboard tab and it will tell you.

The MSI forums will have an answer for you, I had to update my bios to their latest beta bios to get my GTX1080 to work with my old Z68A GD65 motherboard.  Some really helpful guys on the forums, start your own thread there and they will help you...

Thanks for all the help and finally up and running! The new bios seemed to do the trick but I did also do a clean install of drivers.

Had major panic after bios update as windows would not boot....some quick googling and found a similar issue where advice was to make sure my sata controller was set to achi as it got set back to ide somehow. Couldnt quite believe it worked! Doubled my ram to 16gb at same time.

Only pain is lost my overclock on my 2500k, had it running smooth at around 4500 and no idea how to do it again as set it up years ago - will have to do more googling!
