Hi guys,

Unfortunately one of my portable 2.5" hard drive units failed.

The drive is dead (heads have gone) and I understand the platters will now need to be removed and installed into a working drive. Luckily I have sourced an exact model donor drive unit to be able to do exactly that.

Does anyone know of a reputable and cost effective person/company that could help out here and do the necessary repair and retrieval of data please ?

Thanks

Cheaper and quicker to restore from backup to your new drive.

But i’m guessing you’ve got no backup......?

Only the heads need to be swapped if the heads have failed.
Platter swap when the motor fails.

If the heads have crashed the disk(s), the data may be corrupted/irretrievable.

This would have to be done by a specialist company in any case, due to the specialist clean-room conditions required (IMHO)
