Hi,

I’m thinking about buying the 49” super ultra wide from Samsung, but given the dimensions of the stand and the shallowness of my desk I’m afraid that it wouldn’t exactly work.

Could anyone recommend a VESA desk stand that would work with a 49” super ultrawide? I can’t seem to find any. I can’t wall mount it since my desk isn’t against the wall and can’t use a arm that claps on the desk, since my desk was a ridge on the back.

Thanks in advance.

Try looking at TV stands. They also use VESA's mounting standard and you can get tabletop/pedestal stands for them which should be more capable of handling a screen with that much leverage.

Although a shallow stand is always going to be tricky since screens come in different thicknesses so generic stands are always going to cater for the wider ones.

Is the monitor you're looking at a curved model? If so that'll bring the center of gravity forward so you'll need something where the foot/feet extend forward at some point.

Alternatively, you could get a local fabrication place to make you something. The fixings are simply four screw holes and the size/spacing/depth is well documented so it wouldn't be difficult to make one to fit your requirements in wood or metal.

Hi Endless Waves,

It's curved.
I considered a TV stand, but the 32:9 factor has me worried.

The monitor is the Samsung CHG90

It's not that wide in TV terms, the same as a 55" TV. I suppose the the only thing I'd worry about is that the monitor may be too high off the desk given that it's only half as tall as a TV. It's not that big a difference though, you're talking about the bottom being 18cm/6" higher than an equivalent TV.

I'd be more worried about the thickness if you're going to try and seek out a shallow stand. It's 20cm thick and even the thickest professional monitors don't tend to be more than half that. You're probably better off looking for a stand with widely separated feet so you can put stuff between them.

Going back to the clamp idea, can you not put a block of wood just in front of the ridge and clamp onto that?
