Hi guys,

I have decided that I will finally start upgrading my PC as its been a while and I want something fresh, its about time I upgraded my oldest component, my sound card.

The sound card I currently have is a SB X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality Pro. The problem im going to be having is that the last time I installed Win10 x64 (when it was first released) I couldnt find any drivers for it so I had to revert back to Win7.

Im going to be doing a fresh Win10 install soon which is probably gonna require me to get a new soundcard but im not sure which one I should get.

Ideally id like it less then £80-90 but I dont want to be missing out on sound quality compared to my old card.

If needs be then I will hold off on the Win10 install as I dont want to just throw my old card out.

Many thanks.

Creative only support their cards for a certain number of years before replacing them, there are some new drivers out but I do not know if the cover the old X-Fi series.

If you go to creatives site there is actually a driver package named 24 Jun 19 for your card, that would be yesterday... which seems a little unlikely but perhaps they have actually released a new driver.

As for new cards Creative Sound Blaster Z or Asus Strix Soar are both decent cards, drivers last released for both are in 2017 but work with latest version of Windows. There isn't much to the PC sound card market any more, most people make do with the motherboards built in audio which is good enough for the majority.

What are the chances of them releasing a new driver just as I made the post haha, ok nice spot. I'll vmware a win10 install and see if it works, hopefully it does.

Thanks.

I'd go with M-Audio's. Great bang for the buck
