Hello All,

I am fairly new to PC building, although i did manage it several years ago i am somewhat out of touch having used a laptop since which has never needed replacing

I have everything sorted except for a CPU, i have the following motherboard

ASUS P8H61-I (yes its a mITX because it needs to fit into my equipment rack)

now looking at the CPU compatibility on ASUS website list it states compatibility for

i5-3570k
i5-3570t

but not i5-3570 (no suffix)

reason i chose this CPU is because its the best performance in my price range (limited budget so buying used)

is it really likely that only the k and t versions will work with this motherboard or dos the manufacturer just not test every CPU so doesn't specify that it will definitely work?

The ASUS P8H61-I  supports

Intel® Socket 1155 Core™

i3 Processor/Core™

i5 Processor/Core™

i7 Processor

Intel Core i5-3570K advantages
Higher operating frequency of this processor helps it to achieve better performance in most applications. The microprocessor has clock multiplier unlocked. Consequentally, the processor can be freely overclocked on most motherboards to get greater performance.Intel Core i5-3570T advantages

The i5-3570T is 42% more energy efficient than the Intel Core i5-3570K.No they don't always list and test all variants of CPU's, they sometimes miss such stuff.

The T and K were released two months before the no suffix model, so it may be that Asus simply didn't update the list after that point. It doesn't have any of the other models released alongside the 3570 such as the 3570S or 3470.

There are multiple BIOS updates released after June 2012 though, so it's likely support for them has been added.
