Hacked threat email

I'm not normally one to fall for supposed hack threats, but I received an email saying my outlook account had been hack, and it even had a very old password in the email.
One similar to the password I used to unlock my MacBook.

Now I'm paranoid that this might be real.

They claimed they had a dark web user name, and were saying if I didn't pay them $800 they'd send all my browsing data to my contacts.

As I said, I'm not one to fall for these kind of emails, but the inclusion of that password, even though it was a very old one not used in over 2-3 years, has got my a tad worried about any real threat.

Suggestions?

I received something like that with old information claiming I had visited a pron site and they managed to switch my webcam on and make a recording.

I don't have one.
Oh, I blocked the domain they used in Outlook.

If it's very similar to another password that suggests your password habits are not very good and you could well have been used it another site that got hacked. They then picked it up after that information got published.

You could contact the outlook support team about it  but I wouldn't worry about it, especially if it contains phrases like 'dark web user name', which is pretty meaningless.

They said very similar things about sites and webcams.
I marked it as phishing in my settings, but it looked like the "sent" line was my own email, and the "to" line was this old password I used to use a few years ago.

As soon as I saw that old password in the body of the email I actually went cold.
It has got a a little freaked out.

It was actually an old password I might have used for hotmail some time ago, but I'd also used it as the unlock password for my MacBook.
Seeing as you mentioned an old site I might have used it on, just looking through my passwords and it's the same password I use on in a couple of places currently, one of which I actively use and I think was hacked in the last year, Rockstar Social Club.

Edit: It's not the same one I use here.

It was a throwaway password, time to pick a new one.

Outlook does not store your browsing history

Report it to https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/scam-emails
