Hi
My Macbook Pro 13 2012 will not charge the battery any longer, but will boot up and run normally off the charger providing there is some charge remaining in the battery.

Questions:
1. I can't get the Mac to switch on with just the charger/ no battery or charger/ flat battery.
I can use my daughter's Air just off the charger and no battery. Any way that I can do the same with my Pro?

2. Suspect that my Pro needs the logic board repairing at component level - watched several Louis Rossmann YouTubes, brilliant guy but based in the US so posting prohibitively expensive. Have replaced the small DC in board and still no charging, no green or orange charger light on.
Can anybody recommend a good repairer to sort my charge issues out? Apple just too expensive so looking for cost effective solution.

3. Is there a better forum to post this in?

Thanks

You haven’t specified which part of the country you live in so it’s hard to make recommendations. Google MacBook repairs and your local city and see if you can find a repairer that deals with board level repairs. I agree that taking it to an Apple store is a waste of time, they don’t repair they will sell a refurb or new board as a solution.

Actually the Apple forum will simply refer you to an Apple store or say you should have bought Apple care

David, totally agreed!

Apple will not touch it as it is too old.

So if my eBay board doesn't sort me would be a thought to get me original faulty 2012 logic board sorted.

I'm based in North Lancs, but am OK with posting so any repairer that can do Louis Rossmann style repairs will do.

Update on my issue with logic board.

Have fitted the board I bought on eBay and the MBP is now working perfectly, including charging the battery. Very pleased, not too difficult to swap over other than took a few attempts to plug in the keyboard flex cable and get the keyboard operational. Bit of a b... to fit but all good now.

Now what to do with the non-charging logic board - describe it accurately and list on eBay perhaps?

Thanks for any advice/interest.

Henry
