Connecting internal Disc drive externally

I want to connect an internal disc drive externally with a usb connection. My internal disc drive on the back states "sata power and sata data"..am i right in thinking i just buy a  sata power/data to usb converter then connect it and it will work normally?

Yes if it is a 2.5 laptop style HDD something like this
StarTech.com USB 3.0 to 2.5

If it is a 3.5 you will need an external power adapter as well as a case - something like this
Novatech 3.5

Just connect up and it will be recognised as an external drive
